We were blessed with bright blue skies and sunshine so Swinley looked magnificent and was in excellent condition, with no signs of damage from the Summer drought. The greens were pretty fast, and with the slopes quite tricky.

Whilst the main morning event was playing for the Brian Law Salver, there was also the Father & Son competition which had been deferred from earlier meetings. The Ronnie Francis Salver was won by Andy and Ben Mills with 61 points.

In the main event the median score was 21 points, by far the lowest since Phil Moody has been keeping records as Handicap Sec back to 2014. Third was John Whitehead with 28 points, losing Second place on count back to Neil Gorman. The winner of the Brian Law Salver for 2026 was Alex Kidd with 30 points.

Turning to the other prizes - Nearest the Pin of the 8th was Andrew Chesters, Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 11th was Stephen Wilson and the Longest Drive on the 16th was won by Graham Moody. Runners-up in the Team prize were Messrs Green, Mills and Mills with 76 points and Winners of the Team prize were Messrs Whitehead, Clube and Kidd with a magnificent 80 points. The Guest prize was won by Ben Mills with 34 points, and the runner up was Jeff Ellis with 33 points. (theain prizes) was Chris Green with a very creditable 20

After the morning event we withdrew to the clubhouse for an excellent lunch and thus fortified set out again to contest the Capseals Cup; now playing greensomes. In second place was John Whitehead and Laurence Clube with 35 points who lost on countback to John Smith and Stephen Wilson who had 17 points on the back nine compared to 16 points. The winners included a hole in one on the 13th by your Captain which was his first ace!
