Our meeting at Hankley Common Golf Club attracted 21 TEGS members and their 5 guests making this the highest turnout in some time. The weather was perfect for golf, dry and sunny with a light breeze. With fairway watering there was more grass on the fairways than at many other courses where fairways are now invariably dry and hard. The greens were excellent and the median score was 25.

On the day there were 2 competitions running concurrently – the main event for the Johnson & Johnson Rose Bowl and the final of the TEGS Matchplay. Winner of the Matchplay was Brian Clark, who prevailed over David MacDonald, congratulations to Brian.

The Guest prize was won by Laurence Clube with 34 points with Adrian Payne in second place with 30 points. Winners of the Team prize were Alan Rowbotham, Peter Gunn, and Andy Thomas with 75 points. Nearest the Pin on the 2nd was Brian Clark and Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 15th was Ken Proctor. Best Front 9 (not in the major prizes) was Alex Kidd on 18 points and the Best Back 9 was Brian Clark with 15 points.

In the main event in 3rd place with 28 points was Nick Longman , whilst in 2nd place Peter Mutch with 32 points – Peter had an eagle on the par 5 13th which really helped him on his way! The winner of the Johnson & Johnson Rose Bowl for 2026 was Andy Thomas on 35 points – Congratulations to Andy!

We then retired to the clubhouse where we were warmly welcomed by the staff and presented with an excellent 2 course lunch. Our thoughts now turn to Captain’s Day at Swinley Forest on September 22nd, where I hope to see you all and others again!
